ABOUT US

What is Sibling Society?

Sibling Society is a student-led organization dedicated to fostering a community and promoting sibling involvement to improve the well-being of pediatric patients and their families. With our motto, "Linked by Love, Joined by Stories," we believe that sibling bonds play a crucial role in supporting families through every aspect of treatment.

Core values

  • Community

“We are stronger when we stand together.” We believe in the strength of togetherness. In our community, every voice is heard, every contribution valued, and every individual embraced for who they are. Together, we stand as beacons of hope, resilience, and solidarity, united in our quest to create a world where every child feels loved, supported, and empowered to thrive.

  • Empowerment

“We strive to empower siblings to take an active role in supporting their loved ones.” Through our online gallery donation platform, we enable siblings and supporters alike to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these patients. By showcasing artwork created by pediatric patients, we not only raise awareness about their struggles but also offer a tangible way for individuals to contribute to their well-being.

  • Compassion

"Compassion is at the heart of everything we do.” Through compassion, we strive to walk in their shoes, to truly comprehend their experiences, and to offer genuine support and comfort. By listening attentively, validating feelings, and offering a shoulder to lean on, we create a safe and nurturing environment where individuals feel understood, accepted, and valued.

Where does Sibling Society come from?

Sibling Society originates from the real-life experience of the founder, whose younger sister was diagnosed with Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Throughout the treatment process, the founder meticulously cared for and fully supported her sister, and also found out the mutual encouragement and care between the sick children and their siblings. She realized the invisible power of sibling bond: it provides emotional strength, fosters resilience, and creates a supportive environment crucial for the well-being of sick children. She hopes that these emotional bonds and mutual support can be established among a larger group of people and a broader social network, thereby promoting more attention to the pediatric community

Our Team

We are a trio of rising seniors from Oakville, Canada, and most importantly, siblings to some pretty awesome (and sometimes annoying) loved ones.

FOUNDER

Jolin

Hi all! My name is Jolin, the founder of Sibling Society. On behalf of our entire team, I'm thrilled to welcome you to our community! As a sibling of an 11-year-old sister who was diagnosed with Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, I created Sibling Society as a place where siblings of pediatric patients can come together to laugh, cry, and swap stories about everything from epic sibling battles to who really ate the last cookie.

CO-FOUNDER

Kate

Hi guys, I am Kate Li, the co-founder of Sibling Society. I don't know how to express my excitement and heartfelt gratitude. How honored I am to be given this job. As a younger sister, I know the importance of family, especially the bond between siblings. I know I don’t have the greatest ability to contribute, but I still want to do my best to help all sick children, like a sister, and accompany them through the difficulties.

CO-FOUNDER

Sylvia

Hey there, I’m Sylvia Guo, one of the co-founders of Sibling Society, and I am honoured to be able to do my part in helping children in need. As the sister of a 7 year old, I know how precious a sibling bond is, and by donating to children's hospitals and family support organizations, we hope to share this love with all that deserves to be happy.
